“Dream Accounts”
What would I consider a dream account?
What company or product am I over the top obsessed with, willing to do just about anything to one-day work with, and can’t live without?
If you are reading this and you know me even a little, you probably knew the answer right away, but for the rest of you just dying of suspense I’m sure; the #1 Dream account for me would be (Drum roll) the Fender Musical Instruments Company.
Not because their marketing is great, because it’s not. They unfortunately fall into the category of asleep at the wheel in my book. They have been around so long that they have become lazy in their efforts, and instead of kicking up the marketing to increase business they have been kicking up the importing of cheaper lines to capture sales.
To be fair, the partnership with the Nintendo Wii was genius, stolen straight from the Tobacco Marketers Book of getting them hooked young.
But what if the future of music is people pushing colorful buttons on a plastic guitar shaped computer? Can you say 80’s? I can’t live through that twice.
So why then?
It’s the history, the products, the lifestyle, the places you could go with the marketing that would just be a blast.
You could be edgy, cool, retro, abrasive, emo, grunge, slow, fast hot, cold, anything; any direction would work for the right product.
Just think of all the greats that have or still do play a Fender Guitar; I could in some small way be a part of that history.
“Shine on you crazy diamond”
Not to mention the free guitars from the client to hang on the office wall!
My #1 Dream Account: Fender Musical Instruments Corporation
